A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to go to a resort a couple of hours away. It was so nice to get away for the weekend! Aside from our honeymoon I’d never been to a resort before. This particular resort had indoor/ outdoor pools, a lake with boats you could rent, horseback riding, mini golf, and lots of outdoor sports facilities. Of course a lot of the activities pertained to warmer seasons, but we still had fun. The whole place kind of had the feel of a summer camp, sans mess-hall of course.

We stayed in a cabin that had a fireplace and flat screens in every room! Yes, as much as I hate to admit it, I am a couch potato. The first thing I did when we walked in, though, was turn up the thermostat to 75 just because we weren’t going to see the heating bill! (Greedy much?)

We were able to hit up one of our favorite wineries on one of our days for some wine tasting, stocked up on some Cranberry wine (a favorite!) and procured a bottle of never before tasted Mango wine.  We also had tickets to Monticello, James Madison’s abode, so we stopped for a visit. Did you know he was very instrumental in drafting the Constitution? It was really eye-opening hearing how involved in and dedicated he was to the founding of our country. All-in-all it was a great weekend. Sometimes it’s nice just to peace out from your regular schedule, n’est-ce pas?
