Sunflower picking this past week
Some recent events have made me realize my parenting years can be summarized as such:
Either I am (more than) ready for one of our children to hit the next milestone before they are, or one of the girls is ready to move forward (with parental assistance) to the next milestone but I am floundering in the background.
And lately I’ve been floundering…
After a few recent trips to a used bookstore I gathered a happy little pile of older children’s books to add to our shelves (along with this one and more of these)- I just can’t say no to vintage illustrations!
I hadn’t heard of The Happy Hollisters before, but after a quick Google search I learned they were produced by the same company as the Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, and Bobbsey Twins series, and are geared towards the 8-10 age range.
I experienced a breakthrough recently when Audrey let me braid her hair two days in a row- after months and months of her emphatic refusal of pigtails, ponytails, buns, etc. Baby steps!
Heidi is all-out crawling and loving her new-found freedom to explore. We’ve been in this house a month shy of a year, so she’s been graciously showing us all the areas where we need to amp up our baby proofing, as well as giving me mini heart-attacks with her penchant for making a beeline to the top of the stairs (every! time!) when we’re upstairs. At least crawling is only a stage…I’m praying she’ll be our early walker (because there has to be at least one, right??).
